Palliative Care Association Of Kota Kinabalu Treasure Hunt 2009

My apology for not updating my blog for quite sometime. For the past 2 months I have been busy helping out in an advisory capacity, the Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu(PCA) with organizing their 1st motorized treasure hunt which was held last Sunday, 26th July 2009.In early June 2009, I received phone calls from Dr Molly Matthew, the wife of Dr Ranjit Oomen, medical adviser to the PCA and Ms Margaret Lim, PCA's president asking me to help out their organizing committee with this event.
I attended their organizing committee meeting on 18th June 2009 and agreed to help them out in whatever capacity I can using my past experiences in organizing treasure hunts for my club, the Kiwanis Club of Kota Kinabalu.
In a nutshell, the PCA treasure hunt was a big success having achieved its main objective of creating public awareness of what the PCA is doing and its new role of providing peadiatric palliative care for children afflicted with cancer at an early age of their lives.
Altogether 53 car teams comprising of 180 participants took part and were flagged-off at 7.30 am from the front office of Angkatan Hebat in 1 Borneo Hyper mall.It was a 7 hour event which was divided into 3 sectors which the participants have to go through, answering both cryptic and non-cryptic questions, buy, borrow or practically steal "treasures' after deciphering the riddles given before they return back to the Ballroom Ballroom of 1Borneo Hyper mall for the answers and prizes presentation ceremony.
I will post more on the results of the PCA hunt in another post but at this juncture I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to all the members of the PCA Treasure Hunt Organizing Committee for their assistance and help given to make this event a great success. I find it a great privilege to work with the organizing committee who, counting from its chairperson, Dr Joseph Ninan, Ms Ellen Yee, PCA nursing manager, all the other ladies in the committee and Leslie for their commitments and dedications in making this event a success.Avbig note of thanks must also goes to the clerk of course, The Kena Tembak Team of Alvin Wong, Bernard Liew, Christine Netto and Audrey Chin for setting the hunt and doing it free of charge apart from sponsoring all the copying and printing of the question papers under their own costs.
Syabas and Terima Kasih (Thank You) Everybody!

Latest Up-Dates On Bobbie

To those of you who are wondering what is happening to Bobbie, the stray who followed me home last January 2009. Well, I am happy to inform that she has became a proud mother of 7 lovely puppies on 9th March 2009.
As to the question what happened to all the 7 puppies? Well, we have given 6 of them away to good homes while we kept one of them called Pretty. At first we wanted to call her the chinese name of "liang moi" which translated means pretty girl but on second thoughts, we changed our mind and used the English version of "Pretty" instead because we have a few friends or colleagues whom we also gave the nickname of "liang moi"!Here are 2 photos of our Pretty.
One of them has found a good home in Keningau (hometown of one of my son's girlfriend), 2 are now in Kinarut, given to an auntie of ours whose family loves dogs and cats while another 2 found refuge in the home of one of my wife's friend who adoes dogs. The remaining one was given to the daughter of a friend of mine whose daughter's dearly loved puppy was stolen from their home recently.
